Welcome to Rock | Paper | Web the Technical Journal.
I started Rock | Paper | Web as a web development firm back in 2009 when I was laid off from my regular job. Times were getting tough, I had the lowest seniority, so I got the boot. Not a big deal, my boss was a great guy and everything worked just fine. But rather than try to look for a new job I decided to create my own. If I wasn’t going to have job security I might as well be in charge of not having job security.
Since 2009 I’ve been able to pick up several contracts and worked steadily through the recession.
That, however, doesn’t begin to explain my love/hate relationship with programming. As a developer I’ve completed and launched many a sophisticated website to the satisfaction of my clients, but I’m telling you this adage holds true: If it looks difficult it will be done under budget, if it looks easy it will take twice the quote to complete.
To that end I decided to start logging some of my troubles in this journal in hopes of helping other programmers going through the same struggles.
